Think Selection is delighted to be recruiting a Senior Commissioning Editor for a highly respected trade publisher.

This is an excellent opportunity to commission and develop commercially successful trade non-fiction books for readers around the world. You'll identify original publishing ideas, commission outstanding ideas and authors, and build a publishing programme with genuine international appeal.

Reporting to the Publisher, you'll commission and develop your own list, taking projects from the earliest concept through to publication. You'll combine creative flair with strong commercial judgement, identifying publishing opportunities and acquiring books that have the potential to succeed in multiple markets.

You'll prepare publishing proposals, commission authors and negotiate acquisitions. Working closely with creative, production, sales and rights colleagues, you'll ensure every title is published to a high standard and reaches the widest possible audience.

This role would suit an editor who enjoys originating ideas as much as acquiring, has excellent commercial judgement and understands what makes a successful trade non-fiction book.

The successful candidate will already have experience editing or commissioning trade non-fiction books and a strong understanding of the UK and international markets. You'll be confident spotting publishing opportunities, developing author relationships, negotiating acquisitions and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
