Production Editorial Assistant
Think Selection is delighted to be recruiting a Production Editorial Assistant on behalf of a London-based trade book publishing company.
This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity, combining editorial coordination with hands-on production work within a collaborative and experienced team.
The role sits at the heart of the editorial and production process, acting as a key point of contact between editors, authors, freelancers and internal teams. Day to day, you'll be working with freelance copyeditors and proofreaders, updating layouts in InDesign, running print costings, producing flatplans, and ensuring files are press-ready. You'll also support the team with reprints and special editions, check eBooks and digital files before they go to market, and help keep the wider editorial operation running smoothly.
On the administrative side, you'll handle invoice processing, maintain scheduling records, manage reader enquiries, and liaise with teams across the company including Design, Marketing, Production and Finance. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail are essential, as is a confident and professional approach to communication.
Candidates will ideally have a degree or equivalent experience, along with strong Word and Excel skills. Knowledge of InDesign or the Adobe Suite more broadly would be an advantage, as would an interest in genre fiction and popular culture — the company publishes across fantasy, crime, and sci-fi genres.
This is a full-time role based in Central London with hybrid working available. The company offers a competitive entry-level salary and scope to develop within a creative and supportive team.
