Think Selection is recruiting for a Production and Editorial Senior Controller / Manager to join an independent trade publisher on a nine-month maternity cover contract.

This is a full-time position with the option to work four or five days per week, while consideration will be given to someone available three days per week. The role is based in London on a hybrid basis, with the option to work remotely once initial training has been completed.

Working closely with the Production Director in a small team, you'll be responsible for the production editorial process on frontlist titles and reprints. You’ll coordinate copyediting and proofreading, brief and check typesets, collate corrections from authors and freelancers, and ensure that files are accurate before being finalised.

You’ll manage reprint logistics, briefing printers and seeing books through to delivery. Alongside this, you’ll prepare and amend files where needed, including making updates in InDesign and checking eBooks.

You’ll be in regular contact with authors, copyeditors, proofreaders and printers, resolving queries and tracking progress of projects. You’ll also maintain accurate editorial and production schedules and title records so the wider team has clear, up to date information.

This role will suit someone with in-house book publishing production experience who is familiar with production and editorial workflows. You’ll be comfortable handling multiple titles at different stages, working with freelancers, and taking responsibility for the delivery of your titles.

The role is likely to start in the late spring / early summer. A competitive salary is on offer, the level of which will depend on experience, plus company benefits.
