A well-established creative agency has asked Think Selection to find a commercially minded Head of Marketing and Sales to lead the sales management, promotion and market positioning of its client publishing projects.

The company works with a wide range of authors and organisations, producing primarily nonfiction and illustrated book titles, in addition to fiction, creating a dynamic publishing programme.

This varied role combines marketing, book sales and client advisory work. You'll guide clients through the go-to-market plan for their publications, build sales opportunities with retailers and distribution partners and oversee marketing and publicity strategies.

You'll advise clients on effective promotional approaches for their books and recommend publicity and marketing partners where appropriate. You'll also present titles to distributors, retailers and sales partners, and oversee campaign delivery, ensuring projects reach the market with strong positioning and clear commercial focus.

You'll manage a small team responsible for marketing campaigns and operational coordination, leading the commercial performance of each project from initial client discussions through to delivery.

Whilst experience with trade sales is desired, this is a role for someone who can speak to an author's wider promotional campaign, advising an entirely bespoke solution on a case-by-case basis. Therefore, this is rare opportunity that will suit someone who enjoys the commercial side of book publishing and is interested in a role that combines sales and marketing.

You'll be comfortable presenting options to clients, pitching titles to buyers and sales partners, and overseeing the development of campaigns that combine digital promotion, publicity and trade engagement.

This is a full-time position with hybrid working and regular time throughout the week in the London office, alongside meetings with authors, agencies and trade partners.

The salary is expected to be in the region of £50–£55k depending on experience, with a discretionary bonus and company benefits also offered.
